Singing the song "Remembering Hanoi's Autumn" spontaneously on Trinh Cong Son Street is truly special.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Swedish Ambassador Ann Mawe said her Vietnamese isn't very good. But she tried very hard to practice and memorize two songs: "Remembering the Autumn in Hanoi " (Trinh Cong Son) and "Oh, Hanoi City" (music by Phu Quang, lyrics by Phan Vu).

"I also really like modern Vietnamese songs, but I don't know the lyrics, so I can't sing them," the ambassador said, laughing.

When asked specifically, she listed a few names such as Thinh Suy, Vu Thanh Van, the band Saigon Soul Revival…

Ambassador Ann Mawe recounted that she often cycles to work. In her observation, Hanoi is most beautiful and vibrant in the mornings and late afternoons. These are the "scenery" she loves most.

In the mornings, Ann enjoys watching people exercise and have breakfast on the sidewalk. She also likes admiring the flowers around West Lake, and the women who buy flowers at Quang Ba flower market and then cycle around the streets selling them.

In the late afternoon, she enjoys watching young people stroll around West Lake. "I wish more Vietnamese people would ride bicycles because it's better for the environment and it's good exercise for them. I also hope all Vietnamese children will wear helmets when riding motorbikes," she said.

In September 2019, Ann Mawe was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Vietnam. Her term in Vietnam will soon end.

The ambassador told Tuoi Tre Online that she and her family had a wonderful five years here, that they would miss it very much when they return, and that her family would definitely come back to visit Vietnam.
