Designer Amy Parris, who has been responsible for Stranger Things ' 80s-inspired fashion looks for the past several seasons, told the New York Post:

"It's funny, because I started getting feedback from people like, 'Shorts over leggings?' And I have to say that was actually a trend in the '80s! I knew this was going to happen.

"It's a cross between Josh Brolin in The Goonies and Punky Brewster , with these wildly cut-out outfits that she just randomly wears," Amy Parris explains, referring to the popular 1984 TV series starring Soleil Moon Frye as the main character Punky Brewster.
