The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that signing with a technology platform is an important step in the city's digital transformation strategy, aiming to make Ho Chi Minh City the top choice for domestic and international tourists.
Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism - said that the cooperation with Grab is in line with the orientation of applying technology to improve destination marketing capacity and tourist experience.
"We expect Grab's digital platform to help promote tourism in Ho Chi Minh City more effectively, while supporting destination units to conveniently approach tourists, creating a driving force for sustainable growth for the city's tourism industry," said Ms. Hieu.
According to the cooperation agreement, the two sides will coordinate to deploy many groups of activities to promote digital transformation in tourism. Promotional activities for Ho Chi Minh City destinations will be enhanced on both sides’ online and offline communication channels, suitable for each target customer group.
Along with that, Grab will coordinate to support local restaurants and eateries to promote digitalization of services, creating conditions for many culinary establishments to participate in the online platform, thereby contributing to improving the quality of cuisine and the experience of tourists.
Another notable content is the integration of tourist maps and tour packages for Ho Chi Minh City right on the Grab application, helping to form a chain of experiences from transportation, dining to exploring destinations. The two sides will also accompany each other in major cultural and tourism events in Ho Chi Minh City to increase the spread and attract the public.
To kick off the cooperation, Grab will work with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism to launch communications for the program "Each tourism service business unit is a friendly destination" within the framework of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week from December 5, 2025. The program aims to honor and promote the image of safe and friendly destinations, contributing to improving the service quality of the city's tourism industry.
Ho Chi Minh City is the next locality where Grab has signed a cooperation agreement to digitally transform tourism, following Hue, Da Nang and Hai Phong. In these localities, Grab has coordinated to support digital skills for small businesses and restaurants and promote the implementation of tourism promotion projects.
Businesses said these models are creating new growth effects, helping the local tourism industry more effectively reach young customers and independent travelers, who have a high level of digital service usage.
The signing in Ho Chi Minh City is expected to further expand the digital service ecosystem for tourists, while contributing to making digital transformation a new growth driver for the city's tourism industry in the context of increasingly fierce competition among destinations in the region.
