HCMC GTB is the first international tourist trend monitoring and forecasting system built at the local level in Vietnam, applying data analysis technology to support Ho Chi Minh City in improving the effectiveness of promotional activities and destination competitiveness.

The first research phase was conducted in August and September 2025 in 13 key markets in 7 regional groups, with a scale of 3,000 survey samples. The results showed that the picture of international tourism demand in 2025 - 2026 has many positive signals, at the same time providing key data to help orient the strategy to attract international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2025 - 2026.
Some outstanding survey results from HCMC GTB - Phase 1, 2025 such as: The level of readiness for international trips in the next 6 months is at a relatively high level in most markets (Southeast Asia group leads with 94.3% of tourists saying they will definitely go abroad, followed by Korea, China...), destinations in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia are popular choices of tourists, in which Japan, Korea and Thailand appear frequently in the group of priority destinations; notably, Vietnam ranks 2nd in the choice of Korean tourists...

In addition, the results from HCMC GTB show that Ho Chi Minh City is among the destinations with high awareness in Southeast Asian, Australian and Korean markets. The city holds a prominent position in the urban destination choices of the region, just behind major tourist centers such as Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand) or Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), consolidating Vietnam's position as a leading international destination. Forecasts show that tourists' travel intentions to Ho Chi Minh City will increase significantly in the end of the year and January of the following year, marking an important time for the city's tourism activities.
Ms. Nguyen Cam Tu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, commented: Through cooperation in researching tourist behavior and analyzing the tourism market, the two units have built a set of market monitoring indicators suitable for the characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City tourism, ensuring the reliability and practical applicability of data for both management agencies and businesses. The initial results help the city better understand the differences between markets, thereby supporting more effective and timely strategic orientation in the context of a rapidly changing market.

These data show a positive picture for Ho Chi Minh City tourism in late 2025 and early 2026 when most of the city's key tourism markets are recorded with high tourism readiness indexes. Tourism businesses in the city can proactively prepare plans for exploitation, reception, product improvement and operation optimization to serve tourists, ready for the peak tourist season.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the total number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in the first 11 months of 2025 is estimated at 7.37 million, reaching nearly 74% of the target set for 2025. Domestic visitors to the city in the first 11 months are estimated at 37.28 million, reaching 74.6% of the target set for 2025. Total tourism revenue in the first 11 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 233,566 billion, reaching 80.5% of the target set for 2025.
