The largest paper canning line for vegetables and fruits in the North comes into operation

(Chinhphu.vn) - Today (July 2), the largest paper canning production line for fruits and vegetables in the North was officially inaugurated in Son La, marking a new step forward in the Vietnamese food processing industry.

This production line utilizes Tetra Recart technology, optimizing operations, reducing packaging weight, cutting costs, and minimizing waste. The line was invested in by Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company (Doveco), with a value of 4 million USD.

Attending the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam highly appreciated the significance of the new production line being inaugurated in the early days of the country's implementation of a two-tiered government system. This is a highlight for the communes of Son La to review their raw material areas, as there is now an enterprise investing in deep processing – a basis for Son La province to implement a value chain, develop raw material areas, and ensure quality.

Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment pledged continued support for Doveco in particular, and businesses in general, in expanding their raw material areas. They also expressed their hope that Doveco would help farmers in Son La develop their raw material areas, strengthening the relationship between farmers and cooperatives, with the enterprise acting as the "leading force".

Reportedly, the Tetra Recart production line is part of Doveco's agricultural processing center located in Son La, alongside two other agricultural processing plants in Ninh Binh and Gia Lai.

Inaugurated in 2023, the Doveco Son La center has a production capacity of up to 52,000 products per year. The Tetra Recart packaging line alone can handle a capacity of 6,000 boxes per hour.

At the Doveco Son La center, in addition to the Tetra Recart paper carton packaging line, there is a complex of three factories equipped with the most modern equipment and technology available today. These include a concentrated fruit juice processing plant using Italian technology; a frozen fruit and vegetable processing plant using Japanese technology and equipment; and a canned fruit and vegetable processing plant using Italian and German technology and equipment.

Also on July 2nd, Doveco will export its first shipment of sweet corn packaged using Tetra Recart technology to the Japanese market.

Without the need for preservatives or refrigeration, the Tetra Recart paper canning line at the Son La center helps fruits and vegetables retain their flavor and nutritional value for a long time, thanks to a process where the entire packaging is done before sterilization.

Currently, Doveco supplies the domestic and international markets with a product range including: concentrated products, dried products, canned products, frozen products, fruit juices, etc. Many of these products are popular worldwide, such as canned pineapple, concentrated pineapple juice, frozen mango and banana slices, frozen longan, canned longan and lychee, and frozen whole lychee.

"At this point, we don't have enough production to meet market demand," a Doveco representative confirmed.
