The entrance exam for 10th grade in public high schools in Hanoi for the 2023-2024 school year took place from June 9th to 12th. According to the schedule, the final exam this morning was Mathematics.

On the first day of the exam, five candidates across the city were disqualified for bringing mobile phones and documents into the examination room.

The number of candidates this year increased by about 1,000 candidates compared to last year, so the admission rate to public high schools also increased compared to last year. Specifically, the admission rate to grade 10 this year is more than 62%.

This year, more than 115,000 students in Hanoi participated in the entrance exam for 10th grade in public schools.

This year, over 129,000 students were recognized as having graduated from lower secondary school, of which more than 115,000 participated in the entrance exam for grade 10 across the city. According to the assigned quota, schools in the area will recruit 69,805 students into the public school system (compared to over 69,200 in 2022).

In the specialized programs (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School, Son Tay High School), the total number of registered candidates is 11,283. The total enrollment quota is 1,895.

The city organized 201 examination centers, located in high schools and some junior high schools, as well as vocational training and continuing education centers. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also mobilized more than 20,000 teachers to supervise and grade the exams.

Each student can register their preferences for admission to a maximum of 3 public high schools, ranked in order of preference 1, preference 2, and preference 3.

Last school year, the entire city also had more than 129,000 students participating in the junior high school graduation recognition process, of which approximately 105,000 students participated in the entrance exam for grade 10 of high school in the 2022-2023 school year.

On June 12th, candidates will take the specialized subject exams.
