Recently, many students and alumni of the London College of Design and Fashion have complained that they paid hundreds of millions of VND in tuition fees for university transfer programs, only to be surprised to learn that their university degrees are not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Regarding this issue, in response to VietNamNet on the morning of December 12th, the Ministry of Education and Training confirmed that, to date, the London College of Design and Fashion has not been granted a registration certificate for overseas training partnerships for any of its programs or professions.

The registration of joint training programs with foreign countries is carried out in accordance with the Law on Vocational Education of 2014 and related legal documents, which require vocational education institutions to convert training programs and vocational training operating licenses into certificates of registration for vocational education activities.

"However, after reviewing the records from 2015 to the present, the General Department of Vocational Education (now the Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education, Ministry of Education and Training) has not received any application from the London College of Design and Fashion to convert its vocational education registration certificate according to the above regulations," the Ministry of Education and Training stated.

Previously, VietNamNet received feedback from many students and alumni of the London College of Design and Fashion regarding the fact that their university degrees did not meet the requirements for recognition by the Ministry of Education and Training according to current regulations. These students had all previously studied in a joint bachelor's program with degrees awarded by Liverpool John Moores University (UK).

This has caused frustration among students because it negatively impacts their life paths, preventing them from securing jobs in public institutions or pursuing master's degrees in Vietnam.

After learning that their university degrees were not recognized in Vietnam, many students and alumni of the London College of Design and Fashion filed complaints with the relevant authorities.

According to the complaint, from 2022 to 2025, the London College of Design and Fashion continuously offered a final-year bachelor's degree program.

When advertising enrollment and publishing information about the study program on its public website, the school promised students that "international degrees are valid worldwide ." Trusting this promise, many people registered for the courses. Each course had a total of over 40 students. The amount a student had to pay for the final year of the undergraduate program alone was approximately 289 million VND," the complaint stated.

The London College of Design and Fashion has not yet issued an official response to this matter.

Many students are devastated after paying hundreds of millions of dong because their degrees are not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training . While applying for a master's degree at a domestic university, HLB (Hanoi) was shocked to learn that her undergraduate degree was not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
