To encourage and motivate the Vietnamese student delegation that has achieved outstanding results in international competitions, today the Ministry of Education and Training is organizing a meeting and commendation ceremony for students who won awards in international Olympiads and science and technology competitions, as well as honoring teachers, schools, and educational management units that have made positive contributions to this work in 2025.
In 2025, under the leadership of the Party, the attention of the Government, and the direct guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnamese education will continue to achieve many important accomplishments.
Vietnam has had 7 delegations participating in international and regional Olympiads, with a total of 37 students. The Vietnamese student delegations have brought home outstanding achievements, with all contestants winning awards: 13 Gold Medals, 16 Silver Medals, and 8 Bronze Medals. This represents an increase of 1 Gold Medal and 1 Silver Medal compared to 2024, affirming the strong progress in the quality of advanced education.
International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO): All 6 contestants won prizes, with 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, affirming the quality of the team in a competition that brought together 113 countries.
International Physics Olympiad (IPhO): 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals, placing Vietnam among the top 10 countries and territories with the highest results in the competition.
International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO): 4 gold medals, including 2 gold medals in the Top 10; continuing to maintain its top position in the world for many consecutive years.
International Biology Olympiad (IBO): 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, placing Vietnam among the top 10 countries with the highest overall scores in the competition.
International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI): 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, ranking among the top 8 countries.
Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO): 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 2 bronze medals – a significant improvement compared to 2024.
Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO): 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals, ranking 4th out of 42 countries.
In implementing Resolution No. 57 (dated December 22, 2024) of the Politburo on breakthroughs in national science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, the Ministry of Education and Training collaborated with relevant units to select and form the national team to participate in the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad. As a result, all 8/8 students won awards, including 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 3 bronze medals, and 1 Certificate of Merit, ranking 4th out of 60 participating countries.
In addition, in 2025, many students achieved outstanding results in the 2nd International Mathematical Olympiad in Turkmenistan, the 9th European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO-2025) in Bulgaria, the Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO), the Abu Rayhan-Beruni International Chemistry Olympiad in Uzbekistan, and the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) in China.
Notably, this year marks a milestone as the Vietnamese delegation won 2 Second Prizes, 1 Third Prize, 3 Fourth Prizes, and 4 Special Prizes from sponsors at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in the United States. This is the highest achievement for Vietnamese students in 13 years, since the national Science and Engineering Fair was first held nationwide and Vietnam has participated in the international Science and Engineering Fair since 2013.
The program to meet and honor students who won prizes in the 2025 International Olympiads and Science and Technology competitions will take place at 2:00 PM on December 12th at the General Confederation Guest House, 95 Tran Quoc Toan Street, Cua Nam Ward, Hanoi.
