The working delegation of the Ministry of Construction led by Mr. Nguyen Danh Huy - Deputy Minister of Construction - recently had a working session with Hai Phong City on reviewing the railway route and road route connecting to the station locations to serve the preparation of the feasibility study report for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project (project).
The section passing through Hai Phong is 86.9km long. The Nam Do Son branch line is 13.2km long and the Dinh Vu branch line is 4.3km long.
Hai Phong area is designed with 10 stations, including: Section station (Nam Hai Phong); intermediate station ( Hai Duong Nam); 5 train-stay stations (Binh Giang, Tu Ky, Thanh Ha, An Lao, Nam Dinh Vu) and 3 port areas (Lach Huyen, Dinh Vu and Nam Do Son).

During the working session, the foreign consulting agency reported the research results, including some changes compared to the previous pre-feasibility report.
Mainly adjusting the location of Hai Duong Nam station, adjusting the location of Nam Hai Phong station and adjusting the plan of Dinh Vu branch line.
The Hai Duong Nam - Nam Hai Phong section is 47.5 km long, and the traffic volume in this section is forecast to increase significantly compared to the pre-feasibility plan. Therefore, in the feasibility plan, the consulting agency recommends designing an additional train station to meet the throughput capacity between the two stations.
Binh Giang station is less than 7 km from Hai Duong Nam station. Based on the principle of concentrating goods, the proposed plan is to adjust the nature of Binh Giang station from a goods station to a train shunting station, concentrating the handling of goods at Hai Duong Nam station.
Many delegates representing departments and branches of Hai Phong discussed that the locality has completed the work of setting up boundary markers for the main line, branch lines and stations.
Regarding secondary projects to build 14 resettlement areas, the Department of Construction has approved 1 project in the East and strives to complete the appraisal this September. In the West, the city has completed the appraisal of 5 resettlement areas, and is qualified to implement 1 area.
The working group of the Ministry of Construction and Hai Phong City agreed on the content to build a feasibility study report.
Accordingly, adjusting the main route and branch routes is limited because the locality is basically carrying out the site clearance steps to build the railway, including the main route and branch routes.

Any adjustments, if any, will only come from specialized railway technical requirements or further research on planning, spatial planning and functional zoning.
Adjusting the function and location of the station construction will also be limited, but focusing on in-depth research on factors affecting spatial architecture and the level of site clearance.
In particular, Nam Hai Phong station retains the old plan located south of Hanoi - Hai Phong highway; consider and study the construction of Dinh Vu elevated station to limit construction costs and future operating costs.
According to Resolution 87 of the National Assembly, the project aims to build a new 403.1km railway line, including a 388.1km main line and a 20.5km branch line. The project passes through 6 provinces: Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Hai Phong with a main line designed at 160km/h and a branch line at 80km/h.
