Accordingly, through a preliminary survey of the Buong River and the results of hydrological and hydraulic calculations based on collected documents, to ensure drainage capacity and overcome flooding for residential areas along both sides of the route in Phuoc Tan ward, Dong Nai province, ensuring sustainable development for the areas, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board and the consulting unit proposed an investment plan to renovate, dredge and expand the Buong River.
Specifically, according to the proposed plan, investment will be made in construction, renovation and expansion of Buong River in the following sections: from Km 63+700 to Km 70+590 (more than 6.9km long); from Km 63+700 to Km 68+000 (4.3km long); from Km 68+000 to Km 70+590 (nearly 2.6km long).
At the same time, investment in construction and renovation of Ba Buom canal includes the construction of a new Ba Buom canal from Km 65+650 of Buong river to Ba Buom bridge (700m long); construction of a new Ba Buom canal, from Ba Buom bridge to the existing canal (more than 1.1km long); renovation of the existing canal (more than 1.1km long).
According to the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the total estimated investment for the project is more than 4.3 trillion VND.
Previously, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board coordinated with the consulting unit to conduct a preliminary survey of the current status of the Buong River and residential areas along the route, and collect relevant documents.
Survey results show that the Buong River is a drainage route for about 40 thousand hectares, including downstream areas such as Phuoc Tan ward, Dong Nai province and neighboring areas. Due to the terrain, surface and construction elevation of residential areas, flooding occurs mainly in the area from the old Giang Dien commune (now Trang Bom commune, Dong Nai province) to the downstream bordering the Dong Nai river; mainly concentrated in Phuoc Tan ward, the flooding situation is increasingly serious.
