Vinspeed High-Speed Railway Development Investment Joint Stock Company has announced the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the Hanoi - Quang Ninh railway project, with a total estimated investment of more than 5.5 billion USD. The route is designed with a speed of 350 km/h, to meet the demand for high-quality passenger transport between two important economic centers of the Northern region.

The project was proposed in the context that the existing road traffic infrastructure is not enough to meet the demand, while the old railway line is outdated, mainly serving freight transport at slow speed.
