Proposal for survey to enroll 6th grade students in some schools in Ho Chi Minh City

The report of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to the City People's Committee on enrollment in grade 6 for the 2024-2025 school year has the following content:

The Department proposed to enroll students in grade 6 through a capacity assessment survey at secondary schools implementing the high-quality program "advanced, internationally integrated schools", schools with more students registering for grade 6 than the enrollment quota.

The departments of education and training will be responsible for creating survey questions, organizing the survey, determining the admission targets, etc.

If students do not pass the entrance exam to grade 6 of the above schools, they will still be considered for admission to grade 6 according to the regulations of the Primary Admission Steering Committee of districts.

According to the above proposal, for the remaining secondary schools, the department still proposes to recruit students by examination. The recruitment process will be carried out online.

The admission process will be divided into 2 phases.

Phase 1: Priority is given to students who are actually residing in the area, have completed primary school and are within the prescribed age.

Phase 2: Based on the units that have not recruited enough students compared to the assigned quota, the Primary Admission Steering Committee decides on opening the second round of admission, and at the same time stipulates the subjects allowed to register in this phase (registration is still carried out online at the admission page prescribed by the department).

Which schools are asking for 6th grade admission survey?

It is known that the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has received a request for 6th grade enrollment through a survey for Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu, Binh Tho (Thu Duc City), Nguyen Huu Tho (District 7)...

As for Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, the city is currently waiting for the opinion of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee had sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training, requesting to continue the survey to enroll 6th grade students for the 2024-2025 school year and change the model of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted in accordance with the Law on Education.
