"The guests saw that the Bangkok government had declared a state of emergency and wanted to reschedule their departure. Although the airline announced that the flights would still depart as planned, we had to cancel the tour at the guests' request," said Mr. Vu.

According to a reporter from the Lao Dong Newspaper, the earthquake in Myanmar on the afternoon of March 28, which shook the capital Bangkok (Thailand), has affected the tourism industry in the land of the Golden Temple. By March 30, some tours that had adjusted their schedules to avoid the impact of the earthquake had stabilized, and some companies said they would keep their departure schedules.

Sharing with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Vu Hoang (living in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City), said that she and her family were traveling in Bangkok, and by this afternoon, the situation there had stabilized again. She also found another hotel after the hotel where she was staying had cracks in the wall due to the earthquake.

According to Ms. Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh, Marketing Director, Vietravel Tourism Company, at the time of the earthquake in Myanmar, Thailand, Vietravel served more than 20 groups of tourists. Currently, the schedule and destinations in the tour such as palaces, temples, marinas, etc. have not changed, the groups of tourists still participate in the normal schedule of sightseeing and experience in Thailand. For groups of tourists departing from April, Vietravel has not recorded information about requests to cancel or postpone tours from tourists.

"According to the latest announcement from local authorities and tour guides working in Thailand, all tourist attractions in Bangkok are currently unaffected. Vietravel tour groups are still visiting as scheduled," said Ms. Van Khanh.

Previously, on March 29, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced that the situation had returned to normal after the earthquake on March 28. Business activities have been restored and tourist and conference venues in Thailand have reopened as usual.

"Although activities have resumed, authorities will still conduct regular inspections to ensure absolute safety for tourists and residents," TAT said.

Some other travel companies such as Saigontourist Travel, Vietluxtour, Vinagroup, informed that tourist groups are still departing normally and are closely monitoring the tour situation of the group and the actual destinations in the itinerary.
