The first dengue fever outbreak in Ha Tinh

On July 18, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Center for Disease Control of Ha Tinh province - said that in Hai Thanh village, Song Tri ward, 5 cases of dengue fever had just appeared. This was identified as the first outbreak of dengue fever in the province since the beginning of the year.

Accordingly, the first patient was DCT (17 years old, residing in Song Tri ward). Previously, on July 14, the patient had symptoms of high fever over 38 degrees, accompanied by severe headache, loss of appetite; muscle pain, joint pain, and pain in both eye sockets.

The patient went to Ky Loi Health Station for examination and prescription. Three days later, the staff of Ky Loi Commune Health Station conducted a rapid dengue test and the result was positive for NS1Ag.

This morning, leaders of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control and specialized departments were directly present at the site, coordinating with the Hoanh Son Medical Center and local authorities to urgently deploy epidemic prevention measures to prevent the disease from spreading widely.

At the same time, we are investigating suspected cases of dengue fever and performing rapid tests to confirm. Through rapid tests, we have discovered 2 more cases positive for dengue fever (NS1Ag) and 2 cases with fever showing signs of suspected illness.

During the inspection this morning, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh requested the medical center and local authorities to step up propaganda on epidemic prevention measures on the loudspeaker system; strengthen monitoring, and request suspected cases to immediately go to medical facilities for timely monitoring and treatment.

Closely monitor households around the patient's home, organize campaigns, mobilize people to clean the environment, kill mosquito larvae to prevent dengue fever.

In addition, the Ha Tinh Provincial Center for Disease Control also coordinated with the Hoanh Son Medical Center to spray and kill adult mosquitoes for nearly 100 households within a 200m radius from the patient's house. Focusing all efforts on isolating the area, preventing the disease from spreading, while also doing a good job of admitting, examining and treating patients.
