The list of 10 best-selling smartphones in the first half of 2023 has just been announced by market research and analysis firm Counterpoint Research (Hong Kong), according to which Apple and Samsung have completely outperformed their competitors and completely dominated this list.
Apple took the top 4 spots in this smartphone list, including the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 13. Notably, a similar report by Counterpoint Research also showed that these were the 4 best-selling smartphone models in the 3 months of the first quarter of 2023.
Thus, except for the iPhone 14 Plus, the remaining 3 variants of the iPhone 14 series all have large consumption in the first half of 2023.

The remaining 6 names in the list of 10 best-selling smartphones in the first half of 2023 all belong to Samsung. However, except for the Galaxy S23 Ultra in 8th place, the other Samsung smartphones on the list are all in the mid-range and low-cost segments, including 5 products from the Galaxy A series.
The Galaxy A54 is the smartphone with the most outstanding sales growth in Q2/2023. This smartphone is not on the list of 100 best-selling smartphones in Q1/2023, and has risen to 6th place in terms of sales in Q2/2023.
Similarly, the Galaxy A14 ranked 87th in terms of smartphone sales in Q1 2023, and rose to 5th place in the following quarter.
A report from Counterpoint Research shows that Samsung and Apple still have a lot of advantages in the smartphone market. While Apple seems to have no competitors in the high-end smartphone segment, Samsung shows diversity in product segments.
In addition, Counterpoint Research's report also said that Samsung is currently leading the smartphone market in the second quarter of 2023, accounting for 20% of the market share. Apple is still following closely behind with 17% of the market share.
Three Chinese smartphone brands, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, hold the next positions, with market shares of 12%, 10% and 8%. Other smartphone brands currently account for 33% of the global market share.
