In episode 12 of Our Song Vietnam on VTV, Thanh Lam and Orange revamped the song "Ao Moi Ca Mau" in a hip-hop style.

In this performance, Thanh Lam wore a traditional Vietnamese blouse (áo bà ba), sang Southern Vietnamese folk songs in a male voice, and performed dance moves. In some segments, the female singer was lifted high by the dancers, performing splits.

Singer Quang Linh praised the performance, saying it was the first time he had witnessed such a charmingly staged act with a captivating new arrangement.

Some audience members praised the stage performance and the fresh, cheerful song, but many criticized Thanh Lam for "ruining the song," mispronouncing the Southern Vietnamese accent, and performing a leg split that didn't appeal to the audience.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Thanh Lam said that she was aware of the mixed opinions regarding her performance of "Ao Moi Ca Mau" (New Dress of Ca Mau). According to the singer, praise or criticism is a matter of personal perception. As for Thanh Lam herself, she always accepts negative comments with the utmost composure.

"We aspire to contribute, create, and innovate while still honoring traditional values. If the song 'New Ao Dai of Ca Mau' in this program were sung as usual, it wouldn't be considered a connection between us and the youth."

"When rehearsing the song, we worked very hard. My team and I even had to stay up until 3 am to practice. The show was also filmed at 3-4 am, so we put in a lot of effort...", the singer said.

Explaining her leg-splitting move on stage, Thanh Lam explained that it was an elaborately staged performance by the show's director and choreographer.

"The performance was built with grace and wit. When I did the splits in mid-air, I felt like I was flying within the piece, creating a special feeling," the diva revealed.

A reporter from Dan Tri newspaper also contacted the organizers of the "Our Songs" program to clarify information surrounding singer Thanh Lam's performance. A representative from the organizing committee stated that they would provide a response later.

Thanh Lam was born in 1969 in Hanoi . The singer comes from a family with a rich artistic tradition; her father is the musician Thuan Yen, and her mother is the zither artist - Meritorious Artist Thanh Huong.

Thanks to her early exposure to a professional environment, Thanh Lam developed strong stage presence and unleashed her passion for art. At just 12 years old, she traveled alone to a children's festival in Germany.

In 1985, Thanh Lam stopped studying the pipa (Chinese lute) and switched to studying Vocal Music at the Intermediate level at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music. This was a crucial turning point that determined her artistic career later on.

Alongside her studies, Thanh Lam, together with singer Thai Bao, formed the White Dove music group and performed everywhere (1985-1987).

Furthermore, during the period from 1985 to 1991, as a singer in the Central Light Music and Dance Ensemble, she had the opportunity to perform in many countries around the world , including Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Romania.
