The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front consulted and introduced candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

(laichau.gov.vn) On December 4, in Hanoi, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held the first consultation conference to discuss the structure, composition, and number of people from central agencies, organizations, and units nominated to run for the 16th National Assembly.

Attending the Conference were Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council, Head of the Election Steering Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Attending the Conference were Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the National Election Council, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and representatives of leaders of central ministries and branches.

Affirming the important role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system in election work

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Vice President of the National Election Council, emphasized that the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is an important political event of the country; a broad democratic activity among the people to promote the right to mastery, select exemplary and worthy people, representing the will, aspirations and right to mastery of the people.

Seriously and promptly implementing the Politburo's directive, election preparations are being carried out closely, uniformly and proactively from the central to local levels, creating an important foundation for the successful organization of the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels to be held on March 15, 2026.

"The success of the election depends on many factors, including the extremely important role and responsibility of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system," President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized.

According to Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai, recently, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Election Council, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Government, the Prime Minister, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and departments, ministries and branches have issued many documents providing leadership, direction and guidance on election work.

The National Election Council and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a nationwide in-person and online conference to train officials and people directly involved in election work.

"It can be assessed that up to this point, the work is being carried out in accordance with regulations and the set time schedule," affirmed President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that organizing the Consultative Conference and introducing candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council is a very important task in the election process, to agree on the structure, composition and number of representatives of agencies, organizations and units to be introduced as candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council. At the same time, make a preliminary list and select and make an official list of candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council at all levels.

According to the regulations, the consultation conference will be held three times. The first consultation conference at each level will be held between December 1, 2025 and December 10, 2025; the second consultation will be held between February 2, 2026 and February 3, 2026. The third consultation will be held between February 9, 2026 and February 20, 2026.

To carry out the election in accordance with the law, with a spirit of democracy, objectivity, frankness, construction, and high responsibility, Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai hopes that delegates will give their opinions on the plan of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Report of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the structure, composition, and number of people in the Central Government nominated to run for the 16th National Assembly.

Estimated number of delegates in central agencies

The conference heard Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Chairman of the National Assembly Deputies' Affairs Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, present the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the expected number of people from political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

At the Conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Election Steering Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front presented the report of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the expected number of people from political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

From the content of the Resolution and the Report of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the delegates focused on discussing the number of people from central agencies, organizations and units recommended to run for the 16th National Assembly.
