Comrades Luu Van Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of relevant departments and branches of Dak Nong province received and worked with the delegation.
Dak Nong province currently has about 3,700 people who participated in the resistance war whose children were exposed to Agent Orange/dioxin. The number of people who have been assessed is 1,851. The number of victims who have received benefits is 1,341. The whole province has 6/8 districts and cities that have established associations. Dak Glong and Dak Mil districts are surveying and taking statistics in communes and towns to prepare to establish an association when conditions are met.
The Party Committees and authorities at all levels in the province always pay attention to leading and directing the implementation of the Party and State's policies and guidelines on overcoming and resolving the consequences of toxic chemicals, especially resolving the regimes and policies for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin. The work of caring for and helping victims of Agent Orange/dioxin has been paid attention to and well implemented by all levels, sectors, localities, and associations of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin at all levels.
Associations of Agent Orange/dioxin victims at all levels have mobilized resources of more than 23 billion VND to care for and help victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in many diverse and practical forms such as repairing and building charity houses, granting scholarships, supporting production capital, visiting, giving gifts, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Luu Van Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dak Nong province affirmed that Dak Nong province determined that caring for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin is the responsibility of all Party committees, authorities, and the entire political system of the province. Along with the attention and efforts of the locality, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin continues to pay attention, support, and create conditions for Dak Nong to effectively implement policies, care, and help victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in the area.
Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, highly appreciated the implementation of Directive No. 43 of the Central Party Secretariat of Dak Nong province in recent times.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh suggested that Dak Nong province continue to promptly and synchronously deploy solutions to deal with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam. Local Party committees and authorities need to regularly support, strengthen and improve the Association of Victims of Agent Orange; step up propaganda and mobilize units and people of all walks of life to participate in supporting and helping victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.
The Dak Nong Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin innovates the content and methods of operation, directing activities to the grassroots level. Associations at all levels need to actively coordinate with relevant agencies to advise Party committees and authorities to fully and promptly implement policies and regimes for victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
