On September 9th, he participated in the opening session of the Global Geopark Fair, welcoming representatives from the Global Geopark Network Executive Board who visited the booth of the UNESCO Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark.
Also on the same day, the delegation held bilateral discussions with partners that have signed cooperation agreements with the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau. Specifically, the UNESCO Global Geopark Mine Aykoshidai (Japan) and Mudeungshan Geopark (Korea). Both sides highly appreciated the cooperative activities organized by the two sides during the 2024-2025 period, such as: online community education activities connecting students from both regions, mutual tourism promotion activities, and scientific research activities.
In particular, the UNESCO Global Geopark Mine Akiyoshidai organized an International Lantern Festival, which included lantern booths from Vietnam and Dong Van Karst Plateau; Mudeungshan organized a Geopark Marathon with a UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau booth; and Dong Van organized an international partner corner at the visitor information stations…
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Ngoc Ha stated that Ha Giang province (formerly and now Tuyen Quang province) highly values international cooperation in the fields of culture, scientific research, and especially promoting tourism development cooperation with Northeast Asian countries. He also highly appreciated the results achieved between the Geoparks, considering them as a basis for expanding cooperation between local governments.
During a meeting with two European Geoparks, the UNESCO Global Geopark Haute Provence (Republic of France) and the UNESCO Global Geopark Lesvos (Greece), the European side proposed that the UNESCO Global Geopark Dong Van Karst Plateau organize a visit and implement the cooperation agreement signed at the beginning of 2026.
On September 10th, the delegation continued to participate in the voting process for the Executive Board, Advisory Board, and leadership positions of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. As a result, Mr. Andrea Artus Sa was elected Chairman of the Global Geoparks Network for the 2025-2027 term.
Over the following days, the delegation will participate in field activities at the UNESCO Global Geopark Kutralkura, share experiences in implementing conservation and tourism development, and attend several parallel scientific presentations.
