The Chinese market is witnessing a surge in demand for durian, leading to increasing interest from importing businesses in supplies from Vietnam.
With its advantageous geographical location, short transportation time, and distinctive flavor, Vietnamese durian is highly valued for its quality and long-term development potential.
In an interview with a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter in China, Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Director of the Supply Chain Product Selection Department of Kinghey Hebei Catering Service Co., Ltd., said that in the first six months of this year, Vietnam's agricultural and forestry product exports to China reached US$1.3 billion, an increase of nearly 46.8% compared to the same period last year.
This figure shows the huge demand from the Chinese market. He emphasized that, to promote import and export cooperation, in addition to leveraging the competitive advantages of Vietnamese goods, both sides need to improve customs clearance at border gates, shorten customs procedures, and create favorable conditions for businesses of both countries to connect directly. Shortening customs clearance time will help ensure the freshness and rapid circulation of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products.
Mr. Li Xiaobang stated: “The connection between Chinese and Vietnamese businesses is very important. As one of the top 500 enterprises in China and a leader in the food and beverage industry, we hope to expand cooperation with Vietnamese businesses and bring high-quality Vietnamese products to the Chinese market.”
Among Vietnam's exported agricultural and forestry products, durian is currently the most popular. In the Chinese market, Vietnamese durian has many outstanding advantages such as short transportation time which helps maintain freshness, low logistics costs, and a harvest season that extends throughout the year.
Many Chinese businesses believe that Vietnamese durian is now directly competing with products from Thailand and Malaysia.
In recent years, Vietnamese durian has increasingly asserted its position in the Chinese market, not only thanks to its distinctive delicious flavor but also to its consistent quality, stable supply, and competitive price.
A representative of a durian business at the Tan Fadi market (Beijing) said: "Vietnamese durian is currently very popular with Chinese consumers. We hope this product will increasingly dominate the Chinese market."
Many trade promotion conferences between Vietnam and China in recent times have focused on the durian industry, with agreements on quality standards, food safety, and traceability.
This is considered a crucial foundation that will help Vietnamese durian not only maintain its current market share but also expand further in the billion-person market.
With its existing advantages and strong growth in demand from China, Vietnamese durian is predicted to continue achieving success, making a positive contribution to the country's agricultural export turnover.
