Vietnam badminton team leaves for Thailand to attend SEA Games 33

VHO - On December 5, the Vietnamese badminton team with 11 members left for Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games.

The Vietnamese badminton team participating in SEA Games 33 with 8 players are: Nguyen Hai Dang, Le Duc Phat (men), Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vu Thi Trang, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy, Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Bui Bich Phuong and Pham Thi Khanh (women).

Vietnam badminton team aims to compete for medals at SEA Games 33

The key factor of Vietnamese badminton at the upcoming Congress will still be Nguyen Thuy Linh.

With her high form in 2025 - having climbed to 17th in the world and reached 3 BWF World Tour finals, Thuy Linh is expected to go deep and win a medal in the women's singles event.

This is Nguyen Thuy Linh's sixth consecutive SEA Games. She participated in SEA Games 28-2015, SEA Games 29-2017, SEA Games 30-2019, SEA Games 31-2021, SEA Games 32-2023.

After three consecutive SEA Games (30, 31 and 32) without being able to bring home a medal in the women's singles, Thuy Linh is expected to continue to make her mark in Thailand. Thuy Linh's best SEA Games achievement to date is the bronze medal in the women's team at SEA Games 31.

In the men's category, Nguyen Hai Dang is the biggest hope. The tennis player from Ho Chi Minh City participated in the 30th and 32nd SEA Games but did not achieve good results.

Badminton at SEA Games 33 will take place from December 7 to 14, with 7 competitions, including: Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team, women's team.

The Vietnamese badminton team competes in four events: Men's singles, women's singles, mixed doubles and women's team.
