Dong Thap celebrates 50 years of Provincial Liberation Day

NDO - On the evening of April 28, at Van Mieu Park (Cao Lanh city), Dong Thap province solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification, and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Dong Thap province, with the theme "50 years - Dong Thap full of joy".

The opening ceremony of the ceremony was the melody of Dong Thap folk songs, along with many singing and dancing performances that brought the audience a flood of emotions, expressing gratitude to generations of Vietnamese people who have devoted and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, as well as the desire for peace and the joint efforts to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.

At the program, thousands of people showed up very early. Many young people prepared national flags and costumes printed with the national flag to watch the art program.

At the end of the program, the audience and singers sang the song “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day”. The program was even more impressive when many young people rushed onto the stage to sing the song, joining in the joy of 50 years - the anniversary of the North and South reuniting as one family.

To achieve the Great Victory of Spring 1975 , during the 21 years of resistance war against the US to save the country, the army and people of Dong Thap fought steadfastly through more than 16,000 large and small battles, feat after feat, contributing with the whole country to make the historic April 30th.

With their great sacrifices and contributions in the resistance war, the people and armed forces of many localities in the province were honored to be awarded the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the Party and State; 68 collectives and 41 individuals were honored as Heroes, 1,151 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and more than 27,000 Orders and Medals of various types. Each title, each medal, each feat is imbued with the sweat and blood of many generations of soldiers and people of Dong Thap.

After 50 years, the province has made remarkable progress, especially in agriculture and processing industry. The province's agricultural products are present in more than 150 countries, including demanding markets such as the US, Japan, Korea and the EU... A creative startup ecosystem has been formed, and digital transformation has been strongly promoted.

Cao Lanh City and Sa Dec City are two of the five cities nationwide recognized by UNESCO as members of the “Global Learning Network”. The cultural environment has been improved, traditional cultural values ​​have been promoted with attention to devoting resources to preserving cultural heritages and historical relics; restoring and developing folk festivals.

In the vision to 2030, Dong Thap strives to become a locality with positive, double-digit growth, among the top in the Mekong Delta region in many fields: Agriculture, processing industry, application of science and technology in production, digital transformation, startups, innovation, no more poor households.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Quoc Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee said: “In the new period, Dong Thap will focus on mobilizing all resources, removing bottlenecks, effectively exploiting potentials and typical strengths to make a breakthrough, aiming to become a pioneer province in building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and civilized farmers.

Innovate and transform the economic structure towards modernity, opening up opportunities for new economic sectors: Ecological economy, green economy, marine economy, freshwater economy, adaptive agriculture, multimodal transport and healthcare centers".

With the consensus of the people, he hopes that the entire political system of the province, from the province to the grassroots, must be close, dedicated, innovate thinking, working methods, enhance responsibility, capacity, creativity, accompany the people, dare to do for the people, for the common development of Dong Thap - Land of pink lotus.

He called for the highest determination to build Dong Thap into a place worth living, visiting, and investing in - a place where civilization and modernity converge but still preserve the cultural beauty and affection of the people of Dong Thap Muoi, the Southwest region.

A new Dong Thap with a two-level, streamlined, efficient, effective, and effective local government, serving the people better, creating a driving force to promote rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, will develop faster and faster, contributing worthily with the whole country to enter the "New Development Era - The Era of the Vietnamese people's rise".
