On August 18, in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Power Project Management Board 2 held the first oil firing ceremony of boiler Unit 1 of Quang Trach Thermal Power Plant I project.
According to information from the Power Project Management Board 2, the first oil firing of the boiler of Unit 1 of the Quang Trach Thermal Power Project was successfully completed at 11:00 on August 16.
This is an important milestone, marking the project's transition from the construction phase to the startup phase, moving towards connecting to the national grid and generating commercial electricity.
Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project in particular and projects under Quang Trach Power Center are projects in the list of national key energy projects, approved by the Prime Minister in the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The project is invested by EVN and directly managed by Power Project Management Board 2. The project is built in Vinh Son village, Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province (formerly Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province).
The project includes 2 units with a total installed capacity of 1,403 MW. When put into operation, the plant will provide the national power system with about 9.1 billion kWh each year, contributing to ensuring energy security.
Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant is expected to be a driving force for annual economic growth in Quang Tri province and the North Central region, contributing to creating favorable conditions for the locality to develop supporting industries. The project is expected to contribute about 1,200 billion VND to the State budget each year, creating stable jobs for local workers.
Regarding environmental protection, the factory is equipped with a synchronous wastewater treatment system, exhaust gas treatment and dust filtration. The emission indicators after treatment all meet Vietnam's environmental standards, equivalent to the World Bank (WB) standards.
Environmental parameters of the factory during operation are transmitted to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Tri province for online monitoring and publicly displayed at the factory gate 24/7 in accordance with State regulations on environmental management.
On behalf of the leaders of Quang Tri province, Mr. Hoang Nam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that completing the project on schedule is of great significance in meeting the energy needs for socio-economic development.
With abundant electricity output, it will open up a new direction in the local industrial development planning, especially for industries and fields with high demand for electricity. This is also an important premise for Quang Tri to make a strong breakthrough and fully complete the 2025 goals.
