On the afternoon of March 22, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province announced that the irrigation project in Tien Cuong village (Quang Tien commune, Cu M'gar district, Dak Lak province) had suffered further pipeline damage during trial operation.
"We have now excavated and replaced the old pipes with new ones to continue the trial operation of the project," this person informed.
According to an investigation by reporters from SGGP newspaper, on March 20, while working in their fields, local residents discovered a large amount of water rising from the ground where the project's pipeline runs. Immediately after receiving this information, authorities mobilized personnel and machinery to rectify the problem.
Reportedly, this is the 15th incident since the project began trial operation.
As reported by SGGP newspaper, the Tien Cuong village water supply project, with a total investment of over 72 billion VND, is managed by the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Construction began in October 2019 and was expected to be operational by the end of 2020. The project aims to ensure irrigation for 350 hectares of crops in Tien Cuong village. However, during trial operation, the water pipelines burst 15 times, preventing the project from being handed over.
