At the 2025 Admission Selection Day, Colonel Do Thanh Tam, Secretary of the Military Admissions Board ( Ministry of National Defense ) said that in addition to military recruitment, 10 military academies and schools will recruit about 3,500 students for the civilian system.
Both military and civilian training systems conduct enrollment according to the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training . However, the registration process and admission conditions between the two systems have clear differences.
For the military system, candidates are required to participate in the preliminary selection and can only register for admission to schools that have announced that they have met the preliminary selection requirements, and must also rank their first choice for that school. Meanwhile, the civilian system does not require a preliminary selection and candidates can register for admission in any order of preference.
"Candidates need to be careful to avoid confusion. If they want to enter the military system but register for the civilian system, it is very easy to fall into the situation of passing but failing" - Colonel Do Thanh Tam noted.

Notably, 2025 is also the first year that military schools will apply the conversion of foreign language certificate scores and give priority points to candidates with outstanding academic achievements.
For English, the conversion level starts from IELTS 5.5 and above. The Military Science Academy also converts Chinese and Russian language certificates for candidates applying for the corresponding language majors.
It is expected that before July 23, military schools will announce the minimum admission scores and may adjust them depending on the actual situation. Based on the results of the high school graduation exam, the threshold to ensure input quality is expected to be around 18 or higher.
