Railways are working hard to support passengers transferring through the landslide at Chi Thanh tunnel.

The landslide incident at Chi Thanh tunnel (Tuy An district, Phu Yen province) occurred at noon on May 21, disrupting North-South train operations through this area.

Vietnam Railways Corporation had to transfer train passengers by car between La Hai station (Dong Xuan district) and Tuy Hoa station (Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province) to continue traveling by train.

On the afternoon of May 22, Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of Phu Khanh Railway Exploitation Branch, said that the landslide at Chi Thanh railway tunnel has now stopped. Workers and engineers have arrived at the scene to make efforts to fix the problem and try to reopen the train as soon as possible.

The solution to the landslide is to drill into the landslide point, create an anchor and spray fresh concrete on it. This method helps to form a solid block, fixing the position of the collapsed tunnel ceiling. When the concrete is dry, the soil and rocks are cleared and taken out.

According to Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, from the night of May 21 to 8:00 a.m. on May 22, the unit transferred nearly 2,700 passengers on 6 pairs of Thong Nhat and local trains by car from Tuy Hoa station to La Hai station and vice versa.

The Railway Industry has sent staff to support passenger transfer by road at Tuy Hoa station and La Hai station to continue the journey.

Over the past few days, Tuy Hoa train station has been packed with passengers getting off 45-seat buses. These are passengers transferred from La Hai station (about 50km away) to continue their journey by train to the South.

Mr. Duong Duc Trung, (47 years old, Tay Hoa district, Phu Yen) is usually on duty as a dispatcher. Today, the Chi Thanh tunnel roof collapsed, so taking advantage of his break, he enthusiastically braved the sun to join everyone in the agency in transporting luggage for passengers.

Passengers getting off the train are carefully guided by railway staff and board the train in the correct order of carriages.

Despite the scorching sun, railway staff still enthusiastically helped passengers get their luggage on time for the train.

The wet green "backs" of the Railway industry accompany passengers with lots of luggage, sharing their fatigue throughout the journey.

Passengers who are given priority support by railway staff are the disabled, the elderly, pregnant women, children, people with a lot of luggage...

The cheerful, open and enthusiastic attitude of the railway staff seems to ease the difficulties on the passengers' journey.

This trip, in the hardships of the train passengers, there is always the companionship and sharing of the staff on duty at the platform.

Passengers are assisted from the time they get off the shuttle bus until they board the next train to continue their journey.

Free meals from the Railway not only warm passengers' stomachs but also relieve worries and fatigue on the journey.
