Gen Z Lets AI Manage Crypto Investments: New Game, New Rules, New Teammates

(Dan Tri) - 2 out of 3 Gen Z investors let AI handle the hardest part of controlling emotions and reducing risks. For them, investing in cryptocurrencies is now a smart game, where AI becomes a trustworthy teammate.

If your image of a crypto trader is someone glued to a screen with complicated red and green candlestick charts, then that image is probably a bit outdated. A quiet revolution is underway, led by millennials (those born between 1997 and 2012).

According to a surprising report from the MEXC exchange, up to 67% of Gen Z traders have been using artificial intelligence (AI) to make decisions for them.

They don't do it because they're lazy. They do it because they've found a smarter way to overcome the biggest enemy in investing: their own emotions.

When the "cool head" of the machine wins over the "hot head" of the human

Anyone who has ever invested knows the feeling: the market suddenly plummets, and your account is down 20% in an hour. Your heart starts racing, your hands start shaking, and a voice in your head says, “Sell it all before it’s all gone.” That’s called “panic selling,” and it’s the cause of countless losses.

Gen Z has figured out how to turn that voice off. MEXC data shows that AI users have a 47% lower rate of panic selling than those who trade on their own.

They use AI trading bots and set up rules in advance. It's like you order a soldier: "When the price reaches X, sell to take profit, when it falls to Y, cut loss immediately". And that soldier (AI) will obey without question, without fear, no matter how "stormy" the market is. This way, discipline is guaranteed and emotions are removed from the game.

Use AI as a "secret weapon", only pull it out when needed

However, don't think that Gen Z completely leaves their assets to AI. On the contrary, they use technology very wisely and selectively. Statistics show something extremely interesting: 73% of Gen Z users only "release" AI bots during times of market volatility. When the market is calm, they will let the bots "rest".

This suggests they see AI as a secret weapon, only to be pulled out at crucial moments to manage risk and capitalize on opportunity. They are the captains of the ship, and AI is the advanced autopilot system, turned on when the seas are rough. They still retain ultimate control.

On average, a Gen Z-er will “chat” or adjust their AI about 11.4 days/month, showing interaction and mastery of technology rather than blind dependence.

Gen Z and millennials: Gamers vs. researchers

The difference becomes even more evident when comparing Gen Z with the generation immediately preceding them, millennials (those born between 1981 and 1996).

Millennials are like researchers. They tend to spend time reading reports, manually analyzing technical charts, and building a long-term strategy. They believe in patience and a well-researched investment thesis.

Gen Z, on the other hand, are more like gamers. They grew up with TikTok, Discord, and interactive games. They don’t have time for lengthy analysis. Instead, they want fast, powerful, customizable tools. They like “modules” that can be switched on and off, like changing weapons in a game to suit each battle.

For them, an AI-suggested trading signal is 2.4 times more attractive than a traditional technical indicator.

A new way of investing is taking shape

Clearly, Gen Z isn’t waiting for the future to arrive. They’re creating a whole new way of investing that fits their digital lifestyle: fast, flexible, and powered by technology. They see AI as a “co-worker,” a trusted assistant.

However, the report also offers a gentle reminder. There are risks to relying too much on AI. AI is only as smart as the data it is trained on. If the input data is problematic (garbage in, garbage out), the AI's decisions will also be wrong. In addition, sometimes algorithms operate as a "black box", making it difficult for us to understand why it makes a decision.

Whatever the case, Gen Z is showing that the combination of cool-headed machines and flexible human command can create a generation of investors more powerful and disciplined than ever before. And they are doing it, not with complicated theories, but with everyday mouse clicks.
