Factors affecting the market

The rise in Robusta prices is partly supported by forecasts that Brazil’s Robusta coffee output may decline in the 2026-2027 crop year. In contrast, Arabica production is forecast to increase sharply.

Inventory data is also a factor worth noting. As of November 17, Arabica inventories tracked by ICE had fallen to a 1.75-year low of 400,790 bags. Similarly, Robusta inventories on ICE also fell to a four-month low of 5,648 lots.

On the weather front, Somar Meteorologia reported that Brazil’s largest Arabica coffee growing region, Minas Gerais, received just 19.8 mm of rain in the week ending November 14, or 42% of the historical average. The dry weather could impact future supply prospects.
