According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the export price of black pepper in the first half of October continued to be high. The 500g/l type reached about 6,400 USD/ton, and the 550g/l type was about 6,600 USD/ton, an increase of nearly 36% compared to the beginning of 2025.

However, the upward trend in pepper prices is showing signs of slowing down. Domestic supply has decreased after a long period of strong purchasing, but the export market still lacks large new orders from the US, Europe and the Middle East. In addition, technical standards and regulations on pesticide residue control continue to slow down international trading activities.

Many businesses said the market is currently in a state of balance between expectation and caution. Pepper growers are holding onto their stocks waiting for higher prices, while buyers are waiting for price adjustments to reduce risks. This tug-of-war has kept domestic pepper prices stable at high levels, with no major fluctuations in recent days.

In the long term, the outlook for pepper prices remains positive. Global supply is down due to reduced planting areas in Vietnam, India and Indonesia, while demand in the US, Germany and Saudi Arabia remains stable. If the weather is favorable and exports improve, pepper prices may increase slightly again by the end of the year, especially during the peak consumption season and the Lunar New Year.

Pepper price today in world market

In the world market, based on quotes from exporting enterprises and export prices in countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the latest pepper prices as of October 25, 2025 as follows:

Indonesia’s Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged at $7,229 per tonne. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged at $10,085 per tonne.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged at USD 6,100/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged at $9,500 per tonne. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged at $12,500 per tonne.

Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged, of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l remains unchanged at 6,400 USD/ton; the price of 550 gr/l remains unchanged at 6,600 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged at USD 9,050/ton.

Experts predict that if import demand recovers in the fourth quarter of 2025, the pepper market may record a slight price increase before entering the new harvest. Vietnam continues to maintain its position as the world's largest pepper exporter, playing an important role in balancing supply and demand and significantly affecting international prices.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first half of October 2025, Vietnam exported 9,056 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 59.9 million USD, down more than 14% in volume and 13% in value compared to September. From the beginning of the year to October 15, exports reached 197.1 thousand tons, earning 1.33 billion USD - exceeding the 1.31 billion USD mark of the whole year of 2024.

Despite the modest increase in output, high pepper prices have helped the industry maintain its growth momentum in value, aiming to exceed US$1.5 billion this year. This outlook is supported by tight global supply and stable demand from major markets such as the US, Europe and the Middle East.

However, VPSA has just warned that some shipments exported to Taiwan (China) were found to be contaminated with Sudan IV and were required to be destroyed. The association calls on businesses to proactively coordinate with management agencies and promptly report when there are warnings for quick handling, avoiding affecting the reputation of the Vietnamese pepper industry.
