According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong, by October 24, the whole city had planted over 6,500 hectares of winter vegetables of all kinds, reaching 22.4% of the plan. The vegetable growing area is mainly concentrated in communes and wards in the western part of the city.

Of which, about 2,100 hectares of cabbage, kohlrabi, and cauliflower have been planted in the communes of Gia Loc, Gia Phuc, Yet Kieu, Dai Son, Tan Ky, and Kim Thanh; 700 hectares of watermelon in the wards and communes of Hung Thang, Dai Son, Nguyen Giap, and Chi Linh; 500 hectares of onions and garlic concentrated in some communes of Tran Phu, An Phu, and Chan Hung; 500 hectares of jicama in the communes of An Thanh and Kim Thanh; and 100 hectares of carrots in the communes of Thai Tan and Tue Tinh. The remaining area is mainly leafy vegetables and cabbage.

Currently, some areas of early winter crops such as kohlrabi have begun to be harvested, with the selling price of about 8,000 VND/kg, higher than the same period last year, bringing in a profit of 5 - 6 million VND/sao. Some areas of early cabbage are expected to be harvested in early November but have been sold in advance to traders for about 9 - 10 million VND/sao, earning a profit of 6 - 7 million VND/sao...

In the 2025-2026 winter crop, the whole city strives to plant 29,000 hectares of various vegetables. The Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that the People's Committees of communes and wards strengthen their direction, recommendations, and propaganda for people to accelerate the planting of short-term vegetables, harvest early, and supply the market in time to limit the shortage of vegetables after storms. Mobilize human resources, machines, and equipment to speed up the progress of land preparation and planting of key vegetables with high economic value such as carrots, onions, and garlic, striving to complete planting in October 2025.
