Ho Chi Minh City proposes testing electric motor converters for gasoline motorbikes
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to the Vietnam Register, introducing a domestic enterprise that has successfully researched an electric motor converter for gasoline-powered motorbikes.
This technology allows the installation of a conversion system to turn gasoline vehicles into hybrid vehicles, allowing the vehicle to operate on electricity, saving fuel and reducing environmental pollution.
The enterprise proposed applying this technical solution in practice, and at the same time recommended that the authorities build a suitable legal corridor to take advantage of millions of existing gasoline motorbikes, instead of having to completely eliminate or replace them.
On October 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction chaired a meeting with representatives of the Registry, the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), the 50-03S Registration Center and businesses to discuss the proposal. At the meeting, the parties agreed that legal issues are the biggest obstacle to implementation. According to the Registry, Vietnam currently has no circular or decree allowing the conversion of motorbikes by converting engines.
Concluding the meeting, the Department of Construction emphasized the need for a clear legal framework for technology piloting. The parties agreed to coordinate in developing appropriate regulations, in which businesses will register for experimental research with the Vietnam Register to gradually realize the idea of converting green energy for motorbikes.
