Attending the event were leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , Agricultural Extension Center, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the provinces: Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Thai Binh..., a number of farming households, representatives of enterprises, owners of livestock farms in the provinces and cities...

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center Le Minh Linh emphasized: In recent years, the livestock industry has always played an important role in economic development and ensuring food security of the country. Currently, the livestock industry accounts for a large proportion (over 25%) in the structure of the agricultural sector and is an important livelihood for more than 10 million rural households, with the export turnover of livestock products in 2024 reaching 533.6 million USD, an increase of 6.5% compared to 2023.

However, the export of Vietnamese livestock products to other countries is not as expected, basically still raising in traditional, fragmented, small-scale forms, not ensuring disease safety. Vaccination for livestock and poultry at households is not much due to the "thin" veterinary force at the grassroots level.

Representatives of businesses and farm owners attended the forum.

The work of monitoring, detecting, reporting and announcing epidemics is not timely. The authorities and specialized agencies in some places are sometimes subjective, negligent, and do not have a clear understanding of epidemic information, allowing people to sell sick animals, causing the epidemic to spread. Infrastructure in areas planned for concentrated livestock and slaughter is still lacking and not synchronized.

In the context of Vietnam's deep integration into the international market, the livestock industry not only plays a key role in ensuring food security but also has great potential for export. Therefore, building and maintaining disease-free livestock facilities and areas not only helps control disease risks, reduce economic losses in livestock farming but also contributes to increasing product value and creating trust with international partners and expanding export markets.
