Quang Tri province is currently calling on businesses to invest in and develop the Ba Voi waterfall tourist area.
From Km 45 of National Highway 9, traveling about 10 km further northwest, visitors will encounter the majestic Ba Voi Waterfall, surrounded by ancient trees, with its roaring, frothy water cascading down and reaching a height of over 100 meters. This location has great potential to be developed into a beautiful, world-class tourist area with proper and systematic investment.
According to Nguyen Duc Tan, Director of the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, the Ba Voi Waterfall Ecotourism Area Planning Project, covering 120 hectares, has just been approved by the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee. It identifies this area as an ecotourism, adventure, resort, nature exploration , and community tourism destination.
Accordingly, the tourist area is planned according to functional zones: Zone 1 is an adventure tourism area with an area of approximately 24 hectares, including special landscape spaces in the core area of the waterfall, rock formations, dry streams, and rest stops along the stream.
Zone 2 is a forest-covered tourism area of approximately 19.5 hectares, comprising forest-covered tourism spaces, forest conservation education areas, stream-side rest stops, and rescue facilities.
Zone 3 is a landscape protection area covering approximately 9.5 hectares, comprising spaces for viewing the stream, natural scenery, rest stops along the stream, and rescue facilities.
Zone 4 is a central tourist area covering approximately 43 hectares, comprising a reception area, food and beverage services, a park, a parking lot combined with a rest stop, a resettlement area, and a system of technical infrastructure facilities.
Zone 5 is a community tourism area covering approximately 24 hectares, comprising a residential area combined with homestay accommodation services, a community center, a resort area, and a campsite under the forest canopy.

According to the architectural and landscape planning of the project, for areas with special-use forests and protection forests where the natural ecological landscape must be absolutely preserved, only essential structures such as walking paths, rest stops, and other facilities using environmentally friendly materials may be constructed in open areas or rocky terrain.
Architectural styles and colors must harmonize with the natural ecological environment. Maximum preservation of the area's topography and landscape is essential, avoiding major impacts that could alter or affect the natural ecosystem.
For tourism and entertainment service areas, the layout should be outside the boundaries of natural forest land; the architectural and landscape design should ensure harmony between tourism development space and community living space, and promote community tourism development.
Currently, from National Highway 9 to near Ba Voi Waterfall, there is a local road with a 13-meter cross-section. Internal roads within the planned functional areas have cross-sections that ensure access for electric vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
The entire tourist area will have two parking lots. Parking lot No. 1 has an area of 0.39 hectares and is located in the rural residential area combined with homestay accommodation services. Parking lot No. 2, which also includes a rest stop, has an area of 2.11 hectares and is located in the central tourist area.
The project will be supplied with electricity from the existing 22 kV power line along the concrete road in Gia Gia village, and further construction of a 22 kV power line and transformer station will be carried out to supply electricity to the entire eco-tourism area.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tan, Ba Voi waterfall is located below the peak of Voi Mep mountain (Ta Linh Son), which is over 1,700 meters above sea level and is the highest mountain in Quang Tri province. Ba Voi is a unique scenic spot at the headwaters of the Hieu River that has been known for a long time but has not yet been invested in and exploited to promote its value for socio-economic development.
With its majestic scenery, fresh climate, and location amidst nearly pristine forests, Ba Voi Waterfall and the surrounding ecosystem are places that both domestic and international tourists always hope to visit and experience.
The Ba Voi Waterfall ecotourism area is planned to be located in the central area of the province's key tourist routes, and is particularly situated on the international tourism map of the East-West Economic Corridor.
Despite its unique and rare beauty, Ba Voi Waterfall attracts relatively few tourists due to a lack of investment and rudimentary infrastructure. Occasionally, you'll see forest rangers, environmental researchers, backpackers, or local residents.
In order to promote tourism development to serve economic growth and social stability, the Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 167/NQ-HĐND dated December 9, 2021, on investment in conservation, restoration, and prevention of degradation of the province's historical relic system for the period 2022-2025; and Resolution No. 12/2022/NQ-HĐND dated April 15, 2022, on policies to support tourism development in Quang Tri province for the period 2022-2030 to attract and support businesses and organizations to invest in the tourism sector in the province.
Based on the approved plan and the policies issued, Quang Tri province is calling on businesses to invest in the construction of the Ba Voi Waterfall eco-tourism area to rationally exploit and develop natural resources, forming a functional area for cultural tourism, sightseeing, research and education, and environmental protection.
