In response to European Pho Week 2025, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany hosted an exchange program and promotion of Vietnamese pho at Viet Pho Restaurant in Berlin on December 12th, coinciding with the annual "Pho Day".

The gathering attracted many German friends and partners, including Mr. Rolf Schulze, President of the German-Vietnamese Association, former German Ambassador to Vietnam, and members of the Association; and Mr. Jan H. Fahlbusch, Chief of Staff to the Vice President of the German Parliament .

In his opening remarks at the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Nguyen Dac Thanh, stated that there are currently nearly 1 million Vietnamese people living and working in Europe, and approximately 4,000 Vietnamese restaurants on the continent. These are the silent ambassadors, contributing to bringing the image and culture of Vietnam closer to international friends.

"When you mention Vietnam, you mention pho. We hope that the beauty of Vietnamese cuisine , including pho, will spread widely in Europe, and that one day Vietnamese pho will be recognized as one of the intangible cultural heritages of humanity," Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh said.

During the event, German partners welcomed and appreciated the organization of the pho promotion event in Berlin as a meaningful activity, especially on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.

Prior to the exchange program, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany actively encouraged businesses and restaurants in Germany to participate in the European Pho Week 2025 event.

As of December 12, 2025, six partners in Germany had registered to participate on the We Love Pho organization's website (welovepho.org) through various forms such as actively posting promotional content, sharing information on the restaurant's website and fanpage, Vietnamese newspapers, and implementing special promotions for pho diners during this period.

December 12th has been designated as "Pho Day" since 2017. Over the past eight years, "Pho Day" has become an important cultural promotion activity, contributing to elevating Vietnamese pho, fostering connections between artisans, businesses, and localities in the journey to bring pho to the world.
