Many effective measures to protect against the cold during Tet
At Bach Mai Hospital, the unit has implemented many effective measures to ensure that patients are kept warm during cold weather.
Specifically, the Administrative Department and the Infection Control Department have reviewed, strengthened, and supplemented the outdoor heating system, warm blankets, and boiling water to support patients and their families in combating the cold.

Vu Hoai Nam, Head of the Administrative Department at Bach Mai Hospital, shared that the work of serving patients and their families had been prepared and planned for well in advance, with sufficient equipment and supplies.
The department has also assigned officers to be on standby, ready for action at all times and in all places. “On the evening of January 26th, the 27th day of the Lunar New Year, the temperature dropped significantly, so the heating system along the A9 Emergency Center and the Stroke Center was switched on, helping patients' families waiting outside feel warmer. The system will be maintained throughout the Tet holiday, until the outdoor temperature rises,” Mr. Nam said.
Dr. Truong Anh Thu, Head of the Infection Control Department, said that ensuring patients always have warm blankets, clean clothes, and boiled water is a routine task of the department.
However, in anticipation of the freezing weather during the 2025 Lunar New Year, all activities have been intensified. The department is ready to promptly and fully meet any needs of the departments, patients, and their families. Almost 100% of the staff will be on duty throughout the holiday. There will be personnel on duty 24/7 to provide warming supplies, as well as equipment and linens.
At the A9 Emergency Center of Bach Mai Hospital, the atmosphere remains bustling and urgent, ensuring maximum efficiency in receiving, examining, and treating patients.
According to Master's degree holder Le Quang Tri, Head Nurse of the A9 Emergency Center, the center has always had air conditioners, heaters, warm blankets, and thermal blankets ready for patients. The center also regularly checks and closely monitors the temperature of the patient rooms and the body temperature of the patients.
The hospital plans to adjust temperature and humidity promptly according to standards and regulations, suitable for each treatment area as well as the medical conditions of each patient; ensuring that doors are always airtight; and doctors and staff are ready to handle and respond to unexpected situations.

"On the evening of January 26th, the 27th day of the Lunar New Year, the weather turned cold, bitterly chilly. Fortunately, the heating system promptly installed by Bach Mai Hospital helped us, the family members of patients waiting outside the lobby, to feel warmer and less burdened by the harsh winter weather of Northern Vietnam," shared Ms. Huynh Thi Nhu ( Hanoi ).
Sharing with patients in need.
It is evident that, with well-planned work schedules, prompt action, and concerted efforts, hospitals have been striving to improve the quality of service for the people, sharing in their difficulties and hardships.
Besides strengthening measures to protect patients and their families from the cold during the Tet holiday, Bach Mai Hospital's Social Work Department also set up a "zero-cost" stall and Tet meal program to distribute free necessities and food to those staying at the hospital. This activity was implemented from the 28th of the lunar month to the 5th day of Tet (January 27th to February 2nd).
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital, informed that the hospital has developed many plans to keep patients and their families warm during the cold Tet holiday. In addition, the hospital organized a "Tet Market of Love" with zero-cost stalls, giving gifts and serving free meals to patients and their relatives in particularly difficult circumstances, and seriously ill patients who had to stay for treatment during Tet.

Similarly, at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, in addition to ensuring on-call duty in treatment and emergency departments and providing protection against the cold, the unit also supported patients staying at the hospital during the Lunar New Year holiday with nutritious and safe meals.
The hospital cafeteria will be open throughout the Lunar New Year holiday, serving all inpatients and their families celebrating the holiday at the facility. In particular, during the three days from January 28-30, 2025 (i.e., from the 29th day of the 12th lunar month to the 2nd day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake 2025), inpatients will receive free meals.

At Saint Paul General Hospital, in addition to being on standby to provide emergency care to patients and support out-of-hospital emergency services when required, the unit also ensures protection against the cold during examinations and treatments, ensuring that waiting areas and treatment rooms are well-ventilated and have sufficient blankets, mattresses, and warming facilities; and visits patients being treated at the hospital during Tet, especially those with difficult circumstances.
Given the unpredictable weather conditions, Duc Giang General Hospital has implemented numerous measures to enhance cold weather protection and ensure the health of patients during the cold Tet holiday.

In particular, Dr. Doan Van Phuc - Head of the Neurology Department and Deputy Director of Duc Giang General Hospital (Hanoi) noted that during winter, especially during Tet (Lunar New Year), elderly people should be mindful of and limit temperature changes when bathing. When exercising, they should dress warmer than usual, limit morning exercise, and can exercise in the afternoon.
The Ministry of Health has requested medical facilities to strengthen emergency services and medical examinations and treatment during the Lunar New Year holiday of 2025. Specifically, units must ensure sufficient reserves of medicines, blood, intravenous fluids, and necessary equipment and supplies for emergency care, especially for traffic accidents and food poisoning incidents.
