Hoài has been part of my close circle of friends since our first year of university. Back then, in our eyes, Hoài was like a cheerful, lovely young lady. Her family was very wealthy, she was academically gifted, and she was approachable and never acted arrogant, so everyone liked her.
Hoai comes from a very good family, and her life is the envy of most of us. It feels like she could just live happily without any worries.
Hoai's father was the director of a large corporation, and their family was warm, prosperous, and wealthy. Hoai, being the only daughter in the family, received all the pampering she could ask for. But then tragedy struck when her father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away at just over 50 years old.
Hoài asked for time off from school to take care of family matters. But long after her father's funeral, we didn't see Hoài return to school, and she didn't answer our calls either.

I went to Hoai's house, both as a class representative and a close friend, to witness a shocking family story. When I arrived, I saw Hoai and her sister sitting with their mother, opposite them a young, beautiful woman with a visibly large pregnant belly. Hoai pulled me into the room, crying as she spoke, which broke my heart.
My usually cheerful and adorable friend now looks so pathetic. Hoai said she no longer has the heart to go back to school and will probably drop out. When I asked why, Hoai burst into tears and explained that her father's funeral was going on as usual when that woman appeared, openly pregnant, acting incredibly rude and provocative. She declared that the baby in her womb was Hoai's father's son.
She demanded to be allowed to mourn as the official wife, and also demanded a division of property. So, this time, which should have been spent remembering the deceased, was instead spent worrying, causing trouble, and feeling distressed. Hoai's mother had to deal with both the funeral arrangements and this woman. Hoai felt so much pity for her kind mother, but also so much anger towards her father.
Emotionally, the precious feelings Hoai had for her father, whom she loved and respected, suddenly crumbled. It turned out that the father she adored was just another ordinary man capable of making mistakes. He was willing to betray her mother to be with that arrogant, formidable woman.
In reality, Hoai and her sister, along with their mother, are in an extremely awkward situation, unsure how to resolve the financial issues with the other woman and her child. Should they trust her? Can they consider her to have an official relationship with Hoai's father? And what about the baby in her womb? Is it Hoai's half-sibling?
How should the issues of houses, cars, land, and company shares be resolved smoothly, in a way that is both legally sound and humane? I hugged Hoai, feeling immense sympathy for her.
The deceased are gone, but when will the lingering problems finally end or subside in the hearts of those left behind?
