Google has issued a warning to its 2.5 billion Gmail users about a serious security risk. According to Forbes, the number of hacking incidents that bypass two-factor authentication increased by 84% in 2024.
More than one-third of attacks aim to steal login credentials and personal data. Google says that scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and even 2FA is being bypassed.
The company recommends changing your password and switching to a passkey instead of a traditional password. The Passkey is attached to the device, allowing login using fingerprint, facial recognition, or a PIN code.
This method helps speed up logins and reduces the risk of information theft and data leaks. In the context of increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, passkeys are considered the ultimate security shield for Gmail.
