The project is implemented in the period of 2025 - 2027 to ensure the reservoir operates safely and effectively, serving the irrigation water needs for 175 hectares of cultivated land in two communes: Son Da, Thuan My in Ba Vi district (now Cam Da commune, Hanoi ) . In addition, the project also contributes to flood prevention for the downstream area and improves the landscape and environment of the area around the lake.

The project will carry out many important items to renovate Meo Gu reservoir. The main works include renovating the main dam, repairing the dam slope and waterproofing, rebuilding the water intake, renovating the spillway, and dredging the reservoir to ensure that the water flow is not blocked. One of the important stages is to renovate the post-spillway canal and the main irrigation canal, about 1.88 km long, to ensure effective water supply for agricultural production.

The project also includes the construction of a Level IV management building and a comprehensive monitoring and surveillance system to monitor the reservoir’s performance and ensure long-term safety. These improvements will enhance the reservoir’s operational capacity, reduce flood risks, and provide long-term benefits to local residents.

The Hanoi People's Committee requested relevant departments, sectors and localities to coordinate closely to implement the project on schedule and with high quality, while ensuring investment efficiency. The city pays special attention to preventing loss and waste during the project implementation process. Relevant agencies need to strictly control each item and stage, from construction, execution to investment supervision.

The Hanoi Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Technical Infrastructure and Agriculture, as the investor, will be fully responsible before the law and the City People's Committee for the organization and implementation of the project. The investor will also coordinate with localities in the project area to organize community supervision and publicize information on progress, construction steps, as well as site clearance.

The Project Management Board will monitor and publicly disclose information so that people in the project area know and participate in monitoring, to ensure transparency, fairness and efficiency throughout the project implementation process. At the same time, ensure that the project is implemented according to the correct procedures, without causing negative impacts on the lives and activities of people in the area.

The Meo Gu Reservoir has a design capacity of 1.089 million m³. Currently, the earth dam consists of a 400 m long line, but the dam crest elevation does not meet the required standards according to current standards. The upstream slope is paved with stone, but has seriously collapsed. The downstream slope of the dam has water seepage outside the main dam at the position from K0+50 to K0+200 when the reservoir water level exceeds the positive elevation of 28 m. The drainage culvert, after many years of use, has been eroded on the surface and pitting has appeared on the concrete surface.
