Hai Duong Lung Hospital is coordinating to proactively screen for tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma by 2025 in 50 communes and towns in 3 districts of Tu Ky, Cam Giang and Binh Giang.
Screening patients will have X-rays, respiratory function tests, sputum samples taken, and subcutaneous tests to determine tuberculosis. This screening period will last until June 30.
It is expected that about 7,500 people will be screened during this period, an increase of about 3,500 people compared to 2024. This year, Hai Duong Lung Hospital will organize 2 community tuberculosis screening sessions instead of 1 session compared to previous years. The second session is expected to be implemented in the third quarter of 2025 in Thanh Mien district and Kinh Mon town.
Screening cases are those with abnormal respiratory symptoms such as coughing for more than 2 weeks, prolonged fever, night sweats, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, etc.
People at high risk who need screening are people in contact with tuberculosis patients, people with the disease who have completed treatment within 2 years, people with immunodeficiency diseases, people who smoke cigarettes or tobacco, malnourished children, people with thin bodies, etc.
Community screening aims to detect early people with tuberculosis and respiratory diseases for management and treatment. Currently, medical facilities in the province are managing and treating 526 tuberculosis patients and 23 cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis.
By 2025, the health sector aims to achieve a 90% success rate in treating tuberculosis patients, aiming to end tuberculosis by 2030.
