During the two-day National Day holiday, 118 traffic accidents occurred, killing 56 people.

In total, during the first two days of the National Day holiday on September 2, there were 118 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 56 people and injuring 87.

On the second day of the holiday, local police inspected, detected and handled over 15,000 cases of violations of road traffic order and safety; fined over 32.8 billion VND; detained 147 cars, 5,213 motorbikes, 100 other vehicles; revoked driving licenses of 2,816 cases. Of which, 4,049 cases violated alcohol concentration; 3,741 cases violated speed; 178 cases of overloading; 41 cases exceeded size limits; 17 cases violated drugs.

On National Highway 1A, the authorities detected and recorded more than 2,000 violations, imposed fines of 3.9 billion VND; revoked 366 driver's licenses, and detained 401 vehicles. Of which, 340 were alcohol violations; 746 were speed violations; 14 were overload violations; 12 were oversized violations...

On the highway, traffic police inspected and recorded 105 violations, fined 386 million VND, revoked driving licenses of 57 cases, and detained 1 vehicle.

On the waterway route, the police force discovered and handled 160 violations, imposing fines of VND185 million; on the railway route, they discovered and handled 3 violations, imposing fines of VND3 million.

On September 1, there were 3 calls and messages from people to the hotline of the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee reflecting on the traffic safety and order situation, traffic congestion situation in the locality... The calls were forwarded to the authorities for verification and timely handling.

Regarding traffic congestion, the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee said that on the morning of September 1, traffic volume in Hanoi and neighboring localities decreased significantly, traffic was smooth, there were no prolonged traffic jams or serious traffic accidents.

Although traffic volume increased at the gateways to Ho Chi Minh City and on the two expressways Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong-My Thuan, vehicles moved slowly, but the authorities coordinated to regulate and separate traffic from a distance, preventing traffic jams.

On August 31, the Rach Mieu bridge area connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces saw a sudden increase in traffic volume due to people flocking to the holiday, causing vehicles to move slowly. Tien Giang and Ben Tre provincial police coordinated to regulate traffic flow from a distance, preventing prolonged traffic congestion.
