According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, implementing the restructuring program in the agricultural sector, up to now, the whole city has more than 15,500 hectares of vegetables and fruits produced according to safe processes. Of which, about 1,500 hectares of vegetables and fruit trees have been certified to meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

Products produced according to GAP process have shown outstanding efficiency in terms of productivity, quality and value. Vegetables and fruit trees grown in large quantities include: cabbage, kohlrabi, cauliflower, carrots, onions, garlic, potatoes, watermelon, jicama, cantaloupe, guava, longan, lychee, custard apple, etc., concentrated in the following communes and wards: Chi Linh, Nguyen Giap, Dai Son, Kinh Mon, Gia Loc, Gia Phuc, Yeu Kieu, Thach Khoi, Tue Tinh, An Phu, Thai Tan, Le Dai Hanh, Lai Khe, Thanh Ha, Kim Thanh, Quyet Thang, Tan Minh, Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Chan Hung, Tien Minh, An Phong, Viet Khe, etc.

Of these, 600 hectares of land use water-saving irrigation technology in safe vegetable production areas; 125 hectares use high technology, grown in greenhouses and net houses. The stages of fertilization and watering are automatically intelligent, equipped with surveillance cameras; 475 growing area codes are issued and maintained, of which 270 codes are for export, mainly for fruit trees (lychee, longan, dragon fruit, banana, grapefruit) and vegetables (cabbage, carrots); 205 codes are for domestic consumption, mainly vegetables and rice; 24 packing facility codes have been issued for the preliminary processing and packaging of lychees and dragon fruit for export.

90% of spring and summer-autumn vegetable output and 40% of winter vegetable output are consumed in the city, the rest is consumed in other provinces and exported. 30% of fruit output is consumed in the city, the rest is consumed in other provinces and exported.

Localities are encouraging people to continue to accumulate land, expand the area of ​​vegetable and fruit trees grown according to safe processes, apply high technology in production, and implement greenhouse and net house models in planned concentrated production areas.
