A series of violations at Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic

On September 8, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) sent a dispatch to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health requesting clarification of the case of a medical staff assaulting a patient at Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic (Tran Thi Nghi Street, Hanh Thong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Previously, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management received information related to the incident of medical staff assaulting a patient at Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic.

After reviewing the content of the reflection, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to verify and report to clarify the above reflection content, and promptly organize an inspection of medical examination and treatment activities and evaluate the professional attitude and professional ethics of medical staff at the above facility. In case of any violation of professional expertise and professional ethics, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is requested to strictly handle and send a written report to the Ministry of Health before September 15.

Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic accused of assaulting a customer

Previously, on September 7, many clips were circulated on social media recording medical staff insulting and assaulting a woman at Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic. The victim in the incident was a former customer of this dental clinic.

On the afternoon of September 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health conducted a surprise inspection of this facility. At the time of the inspection, the Department of Health noted that the clinic had committed many violations such as: not ensuring one of the conditions regarding physical facilities after being granted a license to operate medical examination and treatment; providing medical examination and treatment services beyond the scope of expertise stated in the medical examination and treatment license.

In addition, the clinic did not create medical records and files according to the form prescribed by law; and advertised medical examination and treatment services that were not within the scope of professional activities stated in the medical examination and treatment license. At the time of inspection, the team recorded 3 employees practicing medical examination and treatment at the clinic but could not provide a medical examination and treatment practice certificate.

Working with the authorities, Dr. NTTC - in charge of the clinic (also the person who assaulted the people in the clip) said that patient T. came to the clinic to have orthodontic treatment done since 2021. Up to now, because he was not satisfied with the treatment results of the clinic, he posted the content on Facebook and went to the clinic to demand the payment of the treatment fee.

However, due to the failure of the negotiation, the dental clinic owner attacked, cursed and insulted the patient. After the incident, Ms. T. had to be hospitalized for treatment of her injuries and filed a complaint with the police.

According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, as soon as they received the information, representatives of the Department of Health went to Hoan My Saigon Hospital to visit and encourage the patient and his family after the incident. Currently, the patient's condition is temporarily stable and he is being monitored at the hospital. Hanh Thong Ward Police continue to investigate and collect evidence of the incident. The Department of Health decided to temporarily suspend the clinic's operations, continue to clarify violations and strictly handle them according to regulations.
