Video of forest fires in Nam Dan, Nghe An on April 30th.
On the evening of April 30th, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district, Trinh Van Nha, informed that the forest fire in Thanh Khai commune has been basically brought under control. Currently, forces are intensifying efforts to extinguish the forest fire in Nam Thai commune and the Nam Dan town area of Nam Dan district.
"The forest that caught fire in Thanh Khai commune was a poor forest, the burned area was mostly covered with reeds and weeds...the fire has now been basically brought under control," said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district.
Earlier on the morning of April 30th, a fire broke out on Dun Mountain, Thanh Phong hamlet, Thanh Khai commune. Upon discovery, local authorities mobilized hundreds of personnel to extinguish the fire. They simultaneously worked to put out the flames and create firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading.
Due to the scorching weather with temperatures exceeding 40°C and strong southwest winds, the fire raged fiercely. Starting from Mount Đụn, the fire spread to the forest areas of Nam Thái commune and Nam Đàn town in Nam Đàn district.
By 9 PM on April 30th, the fire fighting forces of Nghe An province, Nam Dan district, Nam Thai commune, Nam Dan town, and local residents were making efforts to extinguish the fire. However, the fire continued to rage, with a large area of forest still engulfed in flames in the middle of the night.
Currently, there are no statistics available on the extent of the damage, the types of forest affected, or the cause of the fire.
