Bai Tranh commune, Nhu Xuan district, was once identified as a complex area in terms of security and order, with many cases and incidents of property theft, public disorder, and injuries. In 2022, the commune's police proactively advised and implemented the "Security Camera Model for Ensuring Security and Order". The model has proven effective, helping law enforcement agencies to promptly detect, prevent, and combat various types of crimes and legal violations, contributing to maintaining security and order in the locality.
Conference to launch the "Security Camera Model for Ensuring Public Order and Security" in Bai Tranh commune, Nhu Xuan district.
Major Le Xuan Thanh, Head of Bai Tranh Commune Police, said: Implementing the "Security Camera for Ensuring Security and Order" model launched by the Provincial and District Police, the Commune Police have proactively advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune to issue resolutions and plans and quickly deploy the installation of a "Security Camera" system on main roads throughout the commune and at intersections on inter-village roads.
The commune police, the Fatherland Front, and other commune organizations proactively coordinated with the villages to hold public meetings to disseminate information, explain, and help people understand the meaning and effectiveness of the "Security Camera for Ensuring Security and Order" model. Through this propaganda and mobilization effort, people have understood, trusted, agreed, and joined hands in supporting the installation of the "Security Camera for Ensuring Security and Order" system at key locations in the commune.
The police in Bai Tranh commune extracted camera footage to aid in their work.
To ensure the model's effectiveness, the Bai Tranh Commune Police surveyed and selected routes, studying key locations with complex security and order issues to install cameras. The camera system is connected to a server located at the commune police headquarters.
With the consensus and responsible participation of the people, 15 security cameras have now been installed in Bai Tranh commune along main roads, hamlets, and alleyways.
Through this model, in 2022, the Bai Tranh Commune Police coordinated with the professional teams of the District Police to investigate and clarify 3 cases of property theft; 5 traffic accidents and many other incidents related to security and order. The security camera system has helped the Commune Police to closely monitor the security and order situation, promptly advising the leaders of the District Police, the Party Committee, and the People's Committee of the commune on measures to resolve and stabilize the situation.
Since the "Security Cameras for Ensuring Public Order and Security" model came into operation, the rate of criminal offenses in the commune has decreased significantly. In 2022, there were only 4 criminal offenses, a decrease of 3 cases compared to 2021. Furthermore, the installation of security cameras has improved people's awareness of complying with the Road Traffic Law, and many have become more proactive in maintaining environmental hygiene, refraining from littering, and creating a green, clean, and beautiful landscape.
Many key security points in Bai Tranh commune have been equipped with security cameras.
However, according to the Head of the Bai Tranh Commune Police: The implementation of the "Security Camera" model in the commune still faces many difficulties, especially in persuading and encouraging people to equip themselves with cameras. Meanwhile, installation requires electricity and internet access from households, so the connection is sometimes unstable, and people unplug the power cord when they need to use it for family purposes. Funding for maintenance and upkeep of the camera system is also limited.
To address this situation, in the coming period, the commune police will continue to proactively advise the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Bai Tranh commune to install 8 more security cameras in key areas. At the same time, they will strengthen propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to install camera systems themselves. They will also enhance the capacity of commune police officers in the field of information technology to meet the requirements of crime prevention and control.
