On the afternoon of December 11th, Mr. Mai Xuan Liem, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, met and worked with a delegation from AsterAuto Vietnam Company led by Mr. Nehai Vitaliy, General Director.

AsterAuto Vietnam (the LADA car brand in Vietnam) belongs to the AVTOVAZ group, Russian Federation.

LADA is AVTOVAZ's flagship car brand, best known for its mainstream models and off-road SUVs like the Niva.

The AVTOVAZ Group was established in 1966 by a decision of the Soviet Union, building a factory in Tolyatti (on the Volga River) and collaborating technically with Fiat (Italy) to develop mass-market car models.

During the meeting, representatives from AsterAuto Vietnam introduced the scale and development process of the AVTOVAZ Group; provided information about the LADA car models planned for the Vietnamese market, including Thanh Hoa province; and discussed plans for warranty and maintenance services, as well as the development of service stations in Thanh Hoa when operating in the province.

According to a representative from AsterAuto Vietnam, LADA cars in Vietnam during the 1980s-2000s were a symbol of durable, affordable Russian cars, popular in government agencies, public service, and civilian use, notably the Niva model and classic sedan lines.

After a long absence from the Vietnamese market, in 2025, LADA officially returned with modern models such as the Niva Legend, Niva Travel, Granta, and Vesta, targeting the affordable, off-road vehicle segment, focusing on durability, reasonable cost, and performance on rough roads, although still facing challenges regarding the initial after-sales network. Currently, the company has imported 9 vehicles into Vietnam via Hai Phong Port for safety testing, display, and customer test drives.

A representative from AsterAuto Vietnam stated that the company plans to sell several LADA models in the Vietnamese market in early 2026 and expressed the hope that Thanh Hoa province will become the "headquarters" of the LADA brand in the future.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from AsterAuto Vietnam to visit and work in the province.

The comrade provided preliminary information on the demand and consumption trends of automobiles in the Thanh Hoa market; and expressed his admiration for the Russian-made cars from the 1980s and 1990s. To bring LADA models back to the market, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem hoped that AsterAuto Vietnam would develop a plan to coordinate with relevant units inside and outside the province to organize the assembly of these cars right in Thanh Hoa.

The comrade affirmed that Thanh Hoa province will create all conditions for AsterAuto Vietnam to access and develop its products in the Thanh Hoa market, including organizing a product introduction program soon so that customers can directly experience and learn about LADA's car models. This is also an opportunity for customers to assess the changes and improvements of LADA today compared to 30 years ago.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that, in addition to private customers, AsterAuto Vietnam Company needs to research options for supplying vehicles to state agencies and units. In particular, before launching the product onto the market, the company needs to carefully consider a plan for establishing a vehicle maintenance and repair system to ensure the rights and interests of consumers.
