Coach Gong reached an agreement to lead CAHN on October 31, but he only debuted in his new position today. The Korean coach used a 4-3-3 formation with some players who were not in the starting lineup in the V-League such as Nguyen Xuan Nam, Ho Ngoc Thang and three young players born after 2000: midfielder La Nguyen Bao Trung, Ha Van Phuong, and striker Pham Gia Hung. However, the home team still entered with superior ball control and continuous attacks.
Coach Kiatisuk started the match cautiously, letting HAGL play with a 5-4-1 formation, with Jhon Cley playing the highest, the striker who last season contributed 11 goals to help CAHN win the V-League championship. The away team not only defended well but also unexpectedly opened the score thanks to a counterattack in the 14th minute. Nguyen Thanh Nhan passed the ball through Ha Van Phuong's legs, passed it to the left bottom to Dinh Thanh Binh, who continued to pass the ball through Huynh Tan Sinh's legs to cross for Chau Ngoc Quang to finish and score.
After conceding the goal, CAHN did not lose their spirit, still calmly controlled the ball and organized attacks. Ho Ngoc Thang's header failed to beat goalkeeper Dang Van Loi in the 18th minute, and Pham Gia Hung's shot missed the goal when he had a good chance in the 28th minute. Bui Hoang Viet Anh joined the attack, putting the ball into the opponent's net in the 22nd minute, but the goal was not recognized because the center back was offside.
Before the National Cup qualifying round, HAGL had played three matches in the V-League, had yet to win and fell to the bottom of the table with one point. Coach Kiatisuk's team conceded seven goals, most of which were from high balls. This weakness was once again exploited in the match at Hang Day Stadium. In the 36th minute, CAHN took a free kick and lofted the ball in. Goalkeeper Van Loi rushed out slowly, allowing Viet Anh to head the ball. Jairo rushed back to clear the ball right on the goal line, but Ngoc Thang was in the right place to kick the rebound. Jairo still cleared it, but referee Hoang Thanh Binh judged that the ball had crossed the goal line, conceding the equalizer for the home team.

In the second half, Coach Gong added Vu Van Thanh and Jeferson Elias to the field. One of the two changes was effective. The home team completely dominated the game and converted the pressure into a winning goal in the 74th minute, also from a high ball situation. The HAGL defender did not clear Van Phuong's cross well, allowing Gieovane to shoot powerfully in the penalty area. The ball hit goalkeeper Van Loi and bounced off, but Jeferson Elias was there in time to score, raising the score to 2-1. In extra time, Gieovane also had a beautiful long-range shot, but goalkeeper Van Loi jumped up to save the ball.
Winning 2-1, CAHN had a successful debut for their new coach. They won the right to continue and will meet The Cong Viettel in the next round of the 2023-2024 National Cup.
