Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam works in Ho Thau commune

During December 5-6, the working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment led by Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, conducted a field survey of the breeding goat area of over 3,000 goats of the people of Ho Thau commune on the top of Chieu Lau Thi mountain; surveyed the ancient Shan Tuyet tea forest, cultivated completely naturally according to EU Organic standards and visited the Ho Thau tea cooperative in Tan Phong village and worked with the leaders of Ho Thau commune.

Ho Thau commune currently has 1,855 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, of which more than half of the area is ancient Shan Tuyet tea, growing at an altitude of 800m above sea level or higher, so it has very high quality, with a yield of 2500kg/ha, and a fresh tea bud output of 3,920 tons/year.

In the development strategy, Ho Thau has planned Shan Tuyet tea as a key crop for commodity development, increasing people's income, but up to now, due to lack of capital and investors, Shan Tuyet tea in Ho Thau has not yet fully exploited its potential and advantages, the commune has not yet built a brand, small-scale processing facilities mainly produce cheap tea, leading to low income for people.

The leaders of Ho Thau commune requested the working group to support the transfer of Shan Tuyet tea cultivation techniques and expand the area of forest tea including products: Dragon Claw Tea and Shan Tuyet Tea in the Chieu Lau Thi mountain area. At the same time, introduce and act as a bridge for the commune to units and companies with resources and markets to invest in building factories, building brands, etc.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the National Agricultural Extension Center highly appreciated the Party Committee of the commune for building a Resolution to increase the value of Shan Tuyet tea trees, which is a premise for the commune to attract investment to expand production. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment assigned the National Agricultural Extension Center to make a plan to support the transfer of science and technology, build projects based on the commune's requests, gradually increase the value, exploit the potential and advantages of Ho Thau commune in agricultural development.

At the same time, it is expected to support Ho Thau commune in implementing a commercial goat farming model; building a project to preserve and develop Shan Tuyet tea raw material areas and building a plan to propagate and expand the area of wild tea in Ho Thau commune.

On this occasion, the Working Group supported Ho Thau commune with 10 computers and 1 television; supported all outdoor toys for 2 kindergartens in Tan Phong and Doan Ket villages...
