Over 40 thousand chronic diseases detected in 17 border communes

Implementing plan No. 51/KH-SYT dated July 24, 2025 of the Tuyen Quang Department of Health on organizing periodic health check-ups for people in Tuyen Quang province in 17 border communes. From August to the end of December 2025, more than 200 provincial and regional health workers , along with the combined military and civilian medical force, organized health check-ups in all 17 border communes. At the examination points, people were comprehensively screened for diseases of the heart, respiratory system, diabetes, blood pressure, ultrasound, rapid testing, consultation and free medication. After 4 months of implementation, the program examined 188,595/194,902 people present in the locality (reaching 96.8%). Through the health check-up activities, 44,401 cases of diseases were detected, of which internal diseases accounted for the largest proportion with 26,286 cases, mainly chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Surgical diseases recorded 5,487 cases, related to trauma, hernia, appendicitis and 12,268 other diseases. These results show the effectiveness of the mobile examination program, and are an important basis for building a health plan for the following year, focusing on chronic disease management, improving professional capacity and increasing investment in health care in border areas.

Commune-level health care achieved 75.2% of approved technical services.

In parallel with the regular health check-up program, the health sector also implemented Project 544 on improving grassroots health capacity for the period 2023 - 2025 to improve the quality of primary health care at commune health stations. The project focuses on enhancing professional capacity, supplementing equipment, ensuring medicine and improving health record management, helping people to be treated locally, limiting unnecessary referrals. As a result, the number of people coming to health stations for examination and treatment has increased, the quality of medical examination and treatment has been gradually improved, many new techniques have been implemented with a total of 418,491 medical examinations and treatments (an increase of 171,241 compared to before the project was implemented); the rate of implementation of technical services at the commune level approved by competent authorities has reached 75.2% (an increase of 5.4% compared to before the project was implemented); The rate of examination and treatment using traditional medicine reached 34.85% (an increase of 5.12% compared to before implementing the Project).

Tuyen Quang Health exceeds target of 10.3 doctors/10,000 people

Along with that, the implementation of the Project "Improving the capacity of the health sector in Tuyen Quang province in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030" has successfully trained and transferred techniques to hundreds of medical staff at the district and commune levels. Difficult and specialized techniques that were previously only performed at the provincial level have now been routinely deployed at district health centers (district level before the merger). The quality of medical examination and treatment has been significantly improved, and the satisfaction rate of people has increased. Health human resource indicators have all reached and exceeded targets such as: The ratio of doctors reached 10.3 doctors/10,000 people (plan 10 doctors/10,000 people); The hospital bed ratio reached 42 beds/10,000 people (the plan is 38 beds/10,000 people). Specialized techniques previously only available at the central level can now be performed in the province such as: Cardiovascular intervention, mediastinal tumor surgery, 1.5 Tesla MRI, therapeutic embolization...

At the Conference, delegates contributed their comments on issues of personnel work, training to improve professional qualifications for officials, civil servants and workers; practical difficulties in the process of implementing medical examination and treatment in border areas; lack of civil servants in units; implementing the merger of units of the health sector; difficulties and obstacles in implementing disease prevention and control work; developing plans to prevent infectious diseases according to the actual situation in the province; proactively organizing and implementing the plan for digital transformation of health care and strongly applying information technology in managing and operating professional activities...

The summary conference affirmed the impressive results in Tuyen Quang's health care work in 2025, especially the periodic health check-up program that promptly detected disease cases in the border area. The successful implementation of Projects 544 and 482 also contributed to significantly improving the capacity of grassroots health care and professional quality of the entire sector.

On this occasion, the Director of the Department of Health awarded Certificates of Merit to 40 groups and 30 individuals who had outstanding achievements in implementing the Periodic Health Examination Program for people in border communes and in implementing Projects 544 and 482.
