Mr. Kim showed U.23 Vietnam his disappointment.
The U.23 Vietnam team ended the opening match of the 33rd SEA Games a few minutes ago with a 2-1 victory over U.23 Laos. In the match, we let our opponent equalize 1-1 just a few minutes after the opening goal. Xuan Bac was injured and left the field with a narrow 2-1 victory.
Mr. Kim shared: "This is the first match at SEA Games 33. I see that the U.23 Vietnam players are a bit nervous. This is understandable because the first match is always difficult. But in the end, we got 3 very important full points.
Over the past time, we can see that the U.23 Laos team has improved a lot. The coaching board and I have analyzed their playing style carefully, but today the U.23 Vietnam team really had a hard time. I am a bit disappointed with the loss after scoring in the first half.

U.23 Vietnam had a hard-fought 2-1 victory, but the important thing was to get all 3 points.

During the break, I told the whole U.23 Vietnam team about my disappointment, urging them to play harder in the second half. In fact, I was not satisfied with the 2-1 win. Hopefully, the U.23 Vietnam team will play better in the next match."

Also in his post-match statement, coach Kim Sang-sik explained why he reacted loudly (and then received a yellow card) when he thought Dinh Bac's goal was valid and the linesman was wrong to raise his flag.
Fortunately, after discussing with him and captain Van Khang, the main referee made the correct decision to "override" the linesman's flag and agree to recognize Dinh Bac's goal - a double from the young striker of CAHN Club - because he thought Quoc Viet did not obstruct the goalkeeper's vision.

Mr. Kim congratulated his student: "I congratulate Dinh Bac for scoring 2 goals today. I see that he is improving and believe that he will improve even more. I hope this goal will help Dinh Bac play better and more effectively in the next match against U.23 Malaysia.
At this point, we will have to check again about Xuan Bac's injury that he suffered in the first half. Anyway, we have the first 3 points. The task of U.23 Vietnam now is to focus on recovery and prepare best for the next match against U.23 Malaysia."
The first victory helps U.23 Vietnam temporarily lead Group B, waiting for the result of the match between U.23 Laos and U.23 Malaysia on December 7. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have 8 days off, waiting for Xuan Bac to recover before entering the final match of Group B against Malaysia to compete for the top spot in Group B.
