Taking charge of the Vietnamese national teams since May 2024, coach Kim Sang-sik has never tasted defeat since taking charge of the U22/U23 team in official tournaments.

U22 Vietnam had a smooth start at SEA Games 33

On the afternoon of December 3, Dinh Bac scored a double to help U22 Vietnam defeat Laos 2-1 in the opening match of Group B of the 33rd SEA Games men's football at Rajamangala Stadium. This result helped coach Kim Sang-sik extend his 100% winning streak in official tournaments with the U22/U23 Vietnam teams.

Not counting the friendly tournaments of U22 or U23 (when the Korean coach handed over the reins to someone else temporarily), Mr. Kim Sang-sik won all the matches when leading the Vietnamese youth teams in the U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, or the peak was the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship (beating Laos 3-0, Cambodia 2-1, Philippines 2-1, Indonesia 1-0 in the final).

The 49-year-old coach led the team to a total of 4 wins in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers, conceding only 2 goals and scoring 8, asserting his position. This winning rate shows that coach Kim Sang-sik knows how to deal with opponents in the region and continent.

Currently, U22 Vietnam (following U23) is off to a smooth start at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, with a win on the opening day against Laos. If this momentum is maintained, Kim Sang-sik can break the record of Vietnamese football.
